White Roses & Pink Carnations

A beautiful November wedding called for a simple two layer cake. Chocolate cake with chocolate filling covered in creamy white buttercream. Smooth and textured, white roses and pink carnations.

Whenever I decorate for a wedding, I leave the flowers off until the cake is assembled and in place. Well, this time it was my sisters wedding and somehow none of us thought to bring scissors for the extra flowers we ordered for the cake! I was from out of town, frazzled because my husband wasn’t there with me, and it was the first time I made a cake with my baby. Thankfully we found a kitchen knife that would make do and the crisis was averted!

I love the elegance of the difference in height, don’t you?
